9. Works contracting Process
Successful companies/firms will enter contractual agreement with the corporation and commence the assignment accordingly. The contract will cover start to end of the assignment including provision of the assigned construction work.
10. Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Firm’s service provider’s minimum eligibility criteria are as under:
1) Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in all metal & metal related works particularly on dam and water supply metal and mechanical works.
2) The firm/company should have experienced and appropriate professionals in manufacturing activities
3) The firm shall have the necessary machineries’ & equipment’s to undertake tasks
4) The firm should be profitable for last two Financial Years
5) The firm shall have local presence for which it is willing to express interest.
11. Evaluation Process, Criteria and Qualification Requirement,
a. Evaluation Process and Criteria
The evaluation criteria will mainly depend on relevant document submitted by the company/firm. ECWC will have the mandates to prepare the evaluation criteria and shortlist eligible companies. Accordingly, successful and shortlisted company/firm will be communicated through official letter.
Qualification Requirements
Company’s /firm profile and required documents shall include: Description of the respondent, including number of employees and type of machineries (including capacity), highlight relevant experience, skills, and capabilities necessary to undertake the assignments, including, but not limited to demonstrated experiences. Furthermore, the company/firm has to demonstrate that it will have available technical personals, plant and equipment’s for implementation of the assignment compliant with national and international standards.
This Section contains all the criteria that the Procuring entity shall use to evaluate and determine qualify company. The company shall provide all the information as required by ECWC s indicated in the proceeding table.

4. Location of work
The companies/firms shall carry out on the production & construction of metal works that will be on different projects of the corporation or other workshops that will be agreed by responsible bodies.
5. Payment
Payment will be made on fixed rate basis. Successful companies shall be able to bring necessary equipment on production center for the activities assigned which the corporation will pay on a fixed rate. ECWC will have the mandate to fix the unit rate.
6. Application Process
Interested companies /firms / must fill in the ECWC prequalification applications and submit relevant documents/information/ as to demonstrate that they are eligible and qualified to provide construction works. The result of the EOI prequalification evaluation will be used for identification of the successful company to carry out the above indicated assignment.
The applicants should consider the following application procedures and documents:
1) The applicant shall bear all costs related to preparation and submission of this Expression of interest.
2) All the pages of the EOI submitted must be numbered and signed by authorized person
3) Incorrect, incomplete and inadequate application may lead to rejection of the application
4) All document must be submitted in English language
5) Applicants may be requested to clarification on submitted document,
6) ECWC has the right to reject the application without communicating the companies’
7) ECWC shall not provide explanation to applicants related to shortlisting and selection process, in this respect, ECWC decision shall be final and binding for all applicants
8) ECWC may not be enforced to pay advance payment to sub-contractors.

7. Participants

Assignment Duration
The firms /companies shall commence the assignment within 15 days after contract is signed between the parties. The duration of the work will be dependent on the project’s peculiarities for which the subcontractor will be hired to.

2023-05-03 21:09:08 Before placing of prefabricate elements, rolled material shall be straight and shall be cleaned of all loose rust and dirt. Sharp kinks or bends shall be cause for rejection of the material. If straightening is necessary, it shall be done by methods not likely to produce fracture or other injury. Heating shall not be to a higher temperature than 650C. After heating, the metal shall be cooled slowly. All cut edges shall be finished neatly.
Welded splices that develop the full strength of the material being joined shall be kept to a minimum.

3.4. Galvanizing
Where steel or wrought iron is specified to be galvanized the galvanizing shall be executed in accordance with BS 729 after all fabrication has been completed. The articles shall be cleaned and pickled in dilute sulfuric or hydrochloric acid followed by rinsing in water and pickling in phosphoric acid. They shall be thoroughly washed, stove and dipped in molten zinc and brushed so that the whole of the metal shall be evenly covered and the additional weight thereof after dipping shall be not less than 0.61 kg/m² of surface galvanized, except in the case of tubes to BS 1387 when it shall be not less than 0.46 kg/m². Edges shall be clean beveled before galvanization and surfaces bright. No sharp or protruding edges or tips shall be allowed anywhere on the galvanized areas.
3.5. Erection and installation
The method of erection of the ladders, landings and hinged opening covers, shall be approved by the Engineer. When assembly of steelwork is complete at any landing level the fixings to concrete shall be completed before assembling steelwork at the next landing level. The fixing brackets to the Intake Tower concrete shall be grouted with epoxy resin mortar.
3.6. Changes to Proposals
Substitutions of sections having dimensions different from those shown in the Drawings shall be made only when approved by the Engineer.
3.7. Protective Coating
After the structural steelwork has been fabricated and inspected, the Contractor shall clean and coat all metalwork as specified.
3.8. Transportation
Prior to shipment, each member shall be marked with erection marks for identification and ease of erection and the Contractor shall furnish one transparency of an erection diagram with the erection marks shown thereon. Members weighing more than 3 tonnes shall have their weights marked thereon. Structural members shall be loaded in such a manner that they may be transported and unloaded at their destination without being excessively stressed, deformed or otherwise damaged.

3.9. Tolerances for Structural Steelwork
All structural members shall satisfy the specified tolerances. Where tolerances are not specified for any individual structure or feature thereof, permissible deviations will be interpreted in conformity with the provisions of this Clause. Notations in the Drawings or included in these Specifications, or specific maximum or minimum tolerances in connection with any dimensions, shall be considered as supplementary to the tolerances specified in this Clause. Steelwork which exceeds the tolerance limits specified in this Clause shall be remedied or removed and replaced by and at the expense of the Contractor.
Tolerances shall be as set out in Table. For built up members the additional tolerances set out in Table shall apply.

1. Introduction
Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) is an autonomous public body established by virtue of the Council of Ministers Regulation No.366/2015 to deliver constructions overseas and domestic construction works in the area of Building construction, highway, Air field, dam and irrigation, water supply, hydropower construction projects and construction input production. Ethiopian construction works Corporation has established its head off Addis Ababa city, Yeka sub city Around Gurdsholla. ECWC has been undertaking various construction projects in all geographic regions of the country.
With regards to various Construction works it undertakes, the corporation seeks companies/firms with technical competency to work with ECWC on various construction projects across the country. Therefore, Ethiopian Construction works Corporation (ECWC) invites proficient, eligible, reputed companies/firms having the appropriate license to undertake cutting, bending and fixing of steel (sheet metals) and other metal related works as per material specification standards and interested to work with the corporation to submit sealed separate prequalification application for expression of interest.
2. Objective of the Assignment
The main objective of this EOI is to invite potential companies who can work with ECWC as a subcontractor on the corporation’s metal & metal related works.
The specific objective of this EOI is to:
A. Building structure projects like form work, scaffolding, door and window works, truss structure
B. Assembly and installation of steel structure and related works
C. Sheet metal rolling production, welding and installation
D. Modification work for crusher plant, concrete batching plant, and Asphalt plant
E. Dam Intake main controlling systems
F. Dam reservoir power houses
G. Spillway controlling systems
H. Diversion main intake controlling systems
I. Emergency and service gates of dams, Diversion weirs
J. Irrigation water controlling structures: Head regulators and cross regulators
K. . Bottom Outlet Structures
L. water supply pumping stations and distributions systems
3. Description and specification of the Assignment
The following descriptions are limited to the Dam and water supply related metal mechanical and related works and also for the Sheet metal rolling production, welding and installation process.
3.1. Welding
Welding shall be metal-arc welding complying with the requirements of BS 5135 as appropriate. All welds shall be continuous. A full description of each welding procedure shall be submitted for approval. Operators of manually guided machine welding equipment or manual welders using covered electrodes shall be qualified in accordance with AWS D1.1.
Wherever possible, welding of high yield stress steel and of mild steel plates of combined thickness greater than 50 mm shall be carried out by a procedure which uses high arc energy to ensure freedom from heat affected zone cracking. The Contractor shall supply samples to the Engineer when required by him for examination or test.
3.2. Certification
In cases where the contractor supply materials, Materials shall not be transported to the Site until all tests, analyses and final inspections have been made and certified copies of reports of tests and analyses or manufacturer's warranties have been submitted to the Engineer. The tests specified in the standard specifications shall be carried out by the manufacturers of the materials or by an approved testing laboratory and three certified copies of test reports shall be supplied.

በተጨማሪም በዕለቱ በሞሉድ-ዲክሂል-ጋላሞ መንገድ ዲዛይንና ግንባታ ፕሮጀክት ዙሪያ ውይይት የተደረገ ሲሆን የጂኦ ቴክኒካል አማካሪ የሆኑት ኢንጂነር አየነው ይሁኔ እና የሐይዌ ኢንጂነርና የትራንስፖርት አማካሪ የሆኑት ኢንጂኔር ሳሙኤል በመንገዱ የዲዛይን ሥራ ላይ ዝርዝር ገለጻ አድርገዋል፡፡ በተለይም በጂኦቴክኒካል በኃይድሮሎጂ፣ በአርክቴክቸራል፣ በስትራክቸራል ዲዛይንና በተያያዥ ጉዳዮች ዙሪያ ሰፋ ያለ ገለፃ አድርገው ውይይት ተደርጎበታል፡፡

የ“DPCR” ኩባንያ የሥራ ኃላፊዎችም ዲዛይኑን የተመለከተው ሪፖርት በጥሩ ሁኔታ በዝርዝርና በጥልቀት የተዘጋጀ መሆኑን ገልጸው ከጉዳዩ ጋር በተያያዘ ተጨማሪ ምክክር በሚያስፈልጋቸው ጉዳዮች ላይ በቅርበት እየተወያዩ እንዲሚሠሩ ተናግረዋል፡፡ ፡በውይይቱ ውቅት የተገኙትና በፕሮጀክት ዴቨሎፕመንትና ማኔጅመንት ማዕከል የዲዛይን ዲፓርትመንት ሥራ አስኪያጅ የሆኑት ዶ/ር ባይሳ መቃ እንዳሉት ፕሮጀክቱን እውን ለማድረግ በማዕከሉ የተዘጋጀው የ10 ኪሎ ሜትር ዲዛይን ተገምግሞ እንዲፀድቅ ወደኮንስትራክሽን ሥራ ለመግባትና ቀሪ የዲዛይን ሥራዎችን ለመስራት የ“DPCR” ኩባንያ የሥራ ኃላፊዎች ያደረጉት ጉብኝት ትልቅ ፋይዳ አለው፡፡

የሞሉድ-ዲክሂል-ጋላሞ መንገድ ዲዛይንና ግንባታ ፕሮጀክትን በታሰበው መልኩ በማከናወን ወደ ምስራቅና መካከለኛው አፍሪካ ገበያ በስፋት ለመግባት የተሻለ ዕድል እንደሚፈጠርም እምነታቸውን ገልፀዋል፡፡

ፕሮጀክቱ 45 ኪሎ ሜትር የሚሸፍንና በ43 ሚሊዮን የአሜረካ ዶላር የኮንትራት ዋጋ የሚከናወን የዲዛይንና የግንባታን ሥራን በአንድ ላይ የያዘ ፕሮጀክት መሆኑን የሞሉድ-ዲክሂል-ጋላሞ መንገድ ዲዛይንና ግንባታ ፕሮጀክት ሥራ አስኪያጅ ከሆኑት ከኢንጂነር ኃይሉ ድንቅነህ ገለፃ ለመረዳት ተችሏል፡፡ ክፈት / አስተያየት ይስጡ
