One in seven UK adults - 7.3mn – now fall under the ‘food-insecure’ bracket, up from 4.7mn in January, according to a food poverty report by Thinktank the Food Foundation.

The survey also reported a 57% jump in the proportion of households cutting back on food or skipping meals, while an estimated 2.6mn children report they now have smaller meals than usual, regularly skip meals altogether, or do not eat when they are hungry.

The Food Foundation said it was so shocked by its initial findings that it reran the survey on a wider basis, only to get the same results.

Experts opine it will streamline efficiency across the sector
National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) issues a risk-based internal audit (RBIA) directive for insurers.

As per the views of the sector experts, the directive enacts similar fundamental issues to that issued for banks in mid-2020 with the aim to enhance soundness in the insurance sector much like that of the financial sector as it continues to modernize.

A few months back, senior leaders in the insurance sector had a bit of mixed reaction on the matter, with debates on the relevance of the directive being questioned since insurers by default were general risk-based run; while some opined that the directive was more relevant for banks as opposed to their sector.

Ethiopia joined Kenya and South Africa as the only three countries to have deployed commercial 5G services on the continent as Ethio telecom completes its preparation for the adoption of 5G as of Monday, May 10, 2022.
The company is implementing the project using technology from the Chinese technology company, Huawei.

5G is set to be introduced to deal with the high volume of data transmission in dense urban networks in the country and will be upgraded to the existing 4G infrastructure which will help in user demand whilst solving data traffic.

The network is said to be applied to hotspot areas in Addis Ababa, including the areas around the head office of Ethio telecom and the premises of Bole International Airport.

Globally, 5G network services for commercial use were first deployed in 2018 by Verizon. In Africa, 5G networks are available in Kenya and South Africa.

Ethio telecom has now deployed 5G in 5 sites in Addis Ababa. Through the coming 12 months the operator is planing to deploy 5G in 150 sites all over the country.

በኢኮኖሚያዊ ትስስር ውስጥ የአንዱ ሴክተር ወይም ሀገር መዳከም አልያም መነቃቃት ለሌላው ሴክተር ወይም ሀገር ያለው ቀጥተኛ ወይም ተዘዋዋሪ ተጽኖ Spillover Effect ይባላል፡፡

በተለምዶ በኢኮኖሚክስ ትምህርት ውስጥ Spillover Effect ለአሉታዊ ተጽኖ (Negative spillover effect) መግለጫ ሆኖ የሚቀርብ ቢሆንም ለአወንታዊ ተጽኖም (Positive spillover effect) መገለጫ ይሆናል፡፡

#ለምሳሌ፡- ራሽያ እና ዩክሬን በዓለም ገበያ ላይ ያላቸው ሚና ከፍተኛ በመሆኑ ጦርነት ውስጥ በመግባታቸው እና ማዕቀብ ውስጥ በመግባታቸው በዓለም ውስጥ ያላቸው ኢኮኖሚያዊ ተሳትፎ በመቀነሱ በዋናነት ሰፊ የንግድ አጋርነት ያላቸው ሀገራት ተጽኖ ውስጥ ገብተዋል፡፡ የዚህ አይነቱ ሁኔታ ሌሎች ሀገራት በሁለቱ ሀገራት ጦርነት ምክንያት Negative spillover Effect ደረሰባቸው ይባላል፡፡

#ለምሳሌ፡- ራሽያ የዓለም ማዕቀብ ስለተጣለባት ህንድን አጋር ሀገር በማለት በርካሽ ነዳጅ ብታቀርብላት እና የህንድ ኢኮኖሚ መነቃቃት ቢያሳይ በራሽያ ጦርነት ሰበብ ህንድ Positive spillover effect ደረሰባት ሊባል ይችላል (ናይጄሪያ ጦርነቱን ተከትሎ የነዳጅ ገበያዋ ደርቷል ይህም በተመሳሳይ አወንታዊ ተጽኖ ሊባል ይችላል!)፡፡

ቀጥተኛ የትርፍም ሆነ የኪሳራ ተካፋይ የማይሆን ነገር ግን ተዘዋዋሪ ተጽኖ የሚጋሩ የኢኮኖሚ ክፍሎች ሊኖሩ ይችላሉ፡፡ #ለምሳሌ፡- ራሽያ እና ዩክሬን ጦርነት ውስጥ መግባታቸውን መሰረት በማድረግ ራሽያ ላይ ማዕቀብ በመጣሉ በሶስተኛ ሀገራት ላይ የሚፈጠር ከራሽያ መሸመት ያለመቻል ችግር Externalities spillover effect ሊባል ይችላል፡፡

#ለምሳሌ፡- የአትክልት ማሳዎች ምርታምነት ቢሻሻል ለአግሮ ኢንዱስትሪ ዘርፍ አወንታዊ ተጽኖ ሊፈጠርለት ይችላል፤ አፋር ክልል ችግር ውስጥ ቢገባ ሌላው ክልል በጨው አቅርቦት እጥረት አሉታዊ ተጽኖ ሊፈጠርበት ይችላል፤ በሀገር ውስጥ ለቻይና ተቋራጭ ፕሮጀክት መስጠት የእውቀት ሽግግር ቢፈጠር አዎንታዊ ተጽኖ ሊፈጠር ይችላል፤ የሶሻል ሚዲያ መምጣት ለጥቂቶች ገንዘብ መስሪያ ለብዙዎች ገንዘብ ማጥፊያ ሆኗል! ወዘተ ማለት ነው፡፡

በዚህ ወቅት የዓለም ሀገራት ኢኮኖሚ በጣም የተሳሰረ ከመሆኑ የተነሳ የአንዱ ሀገር ኢኮኖሚያዊ መቀዛቀዝም ሆነ በፍጥነት ማደግ ሌሎች ሀገራት ላይ ቀጥተኛም ሆነ ተዘዋዋሪ ተጽኖ መፍጠሩ አይቀርም ይሁ ሁሉ Spillover Effect ይባላል፡፡
