On August 12, 2022, the Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) held a peace dialogue with communities living in and around Wolango, Ale Special Woreda. The main purpose of the discussion was to evaluate previous peace-making efforts in the area and to come up with and determine the enforcement mechanisms of innovative and context-specific peace-making methods. The dialogue involved elders, religious leaders, as well as representatives, and participants from the local women, teachers, youth, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) associations, Idirs, businessmen, as well as courts, and the peace and security office. Among the issues that were raised, so as to enable communities to live in lasting peace and cooperation, are the use of consultative, participatory, as well as locally-owned conflict resolution methods/strategies to end human rights violations and related problems as well as recurring/proliferating conflict trends within the area.
