Debre Markos University received certificates from the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority for two innovative works

Debre Markos University :- August 21/2022 (DMU Public Relations and Communication Directorate) Debre Markos University received the intellectual property certificates from the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority for the production and preparation of "Tela" local Beer and "Areqi" local liquor from "Enset" plant.

According to the University-Industry Linkage and Technology Transfer Directorate director, Yibeltal Tarekegn (Assi. Prof.), Debre Markos University became the owner of these two inventions through a research project done in collaboration with the teacher and researcher, Mr. Bawoke Tiruneh.

According to the University's intellectual property policy, the university has covered all the costs of the necessary expenses for the process in order to make this innovation a reality.

When this innovation is fully implemented, it will enable the widespread production and use of the "Enset" plant that has been left unused in the Northern part of our country.

Assi. Prof. Yibeltal expressed his satisfaction with the certificate that the university has received in this field of innovation, and he also called upon all the research community of the university to work together to present their innovative and research projects that have not been done before by anyone else to the university.
