2022-07-03 22:24:46 Last week I was able to speak at TEDxPuraVida Innovación and share my entrepreneurial journey. My journey has been full of challenges and abundant opportunities. As a student born and raised in a rural area of Ethiopia called Gojam, Zelalemdesta, getting a good education was very difficult. Every day I had to walk more than an hour to get to school and there was no technology. I had to read, only during the day, to take advantage of the sunlight, and I used a kerosene lamp to read at night.
When I was 12 years old, I started fixing electronics in my rural village. For three years I worked for my community, being the first person to repair electronic devices in my town. I used to receive $1 dollar per week for my services. When I was 15 years old, I moved to the city to get a better education. That was the first time I get to see buildings, cars, electricity, and life in the city. It was a very fascinating time because I could understand the problems I had and look for solutions. This helped me to work on innovations, especially in renewable energy technology with the mission of bringing light to rural area homes.
I further fortify my entrepreneurial skill in High School: at Lebawi Academy. Lebawi is a place where I honed my skills and strengthened my creativity. Today I am a student at EARTH University, with a MasterCard Scholarship.
This would not be possible without the help of many good people in my life. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me along the way. I also would like to thank Professor Emilia Villalobos, my Spanish professor, and Heidy Arce Quesada, my communication professor for their relentless support and coaching, in the TEDxPuraVida Innovación program. 2022-06-23 08:59:12 It was a great honor to be part of the International Food and Agribusiness Management(IFAMA) 32nd International conference and student's case computation held in Costa Rica from July 18 to 23, 2022.

The IFAMA Conference was with the aim of exploring the challenges and opportunities that are emerging with the introduction of digitization and technology in the Agri-food sector and to examine the development of new and sustainable technologies that are crucial to mitigating environmental and climate challenges impacting the future of food.

Experts, policy makers, CEOs, and students from different parts of the world came together to analyze one of the biggest questions on our planet, How can we feed 10 billion people in the next 2050? This is a big question to be answered.

Robert Saik, the writer of FOOD 5.0: How We Feed the Future: explained in his amazing presentation about the five eras
of Agriculture, the muscle era, the machine era, the chemistry era, the genetic era, and the convergence era, the era of robots and complex technology in the agriculture sector, and as an Ethiopian, 80% of the people live in agriculture, it was the time that I question myself to know in which era currently we are and in which era we need to be.
The problem is big the gap is huge, and the question is still unanswered and left with a hypothesis: how can we solve problems that are happening now and will happen in the future in the food and agribusiness sector if we can't feed ourselves?

The IFAMA Conference gave me the opportunity to have connections with people from around the world who are working with the same mission of answering this question to achieve sustainability in the food and agribusiness sector.

I would like to thank Professor Irene Alvarado, EARTH University, MasterCard foundation, and the team of students' case computation for this amazing week of sharing experiences.

2022-04-20 04:10:10 I had an amazing Zoom meeting with Engineer Alula Shiferaw from Boston, USA. We met during my participation in the MIT Africa Innovate Conference. We discussed a wide range of topics and ideas during our meeting. I also explained to him my innovations. I would like to thank him for having this amazing time and my big appreciation for his interest and passion for supporting Ethiopian Innovators in international forums.

2022-04-03 10:29:32 I am very excited to announce that my team, Eshet Africa, has won the EPIC social venture competition. We are the first-place winner out of 150 applicants from more than 70 participating universities globally. The competition contains intensive training and mentorship as well as financial support. We are receiving help from Marc Blumenthal, EPIC executive manager, to scale up our social venture.

For the last months, I have been working on social venture ideas for renewable energy solutions, and I would like to thank my Brother, Yihalem Yimolal, who is learning in South Korea. We are excited to work with EPIC and fortify our social venture idea.

2022-03-07 08:21:33 I had a great discussion with my friend Yohannes Bimrew. I shout out my congratulations to him for winning the global #DestinatioZero challenge at the British council and we have talked about renewable energy technologies that he is advancing now. Yohannes was my longtime friend when he lived in Ethiopia. But, he went to the USA when I came to Turkey for education. I am very happy for both of us to continue progressive development in all aspects.
We have also discussed one feasible project related to energy on small hydroelectric and solar. The project can be implemented in rural areas of our country Ethiopia. I look forward to working with you Yohe!
