This week, Dr Abiodun Egwuenu represented DG at @WHO’s 5th IHR Emergency Committee meeting regarding the Multi-country mpox Outbreak

The meeting convened IHR stakeholders and experts to deliberate on whether the mpox outbreak constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern


Following review of data and information from Nigeria and other countries, mpox no longer constitutes a PHEIC.

The Committee called for partnerships to ensure robust proactive & sustainable control measures for mpox including surveillance, case management, diagnostics & research
