2020-10-19 06:39:24 The fourth edition of the Corsa dei Castelli, the end-of-season running event organized as usual by PromoRun, in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste Italy , ended with the victory of the Tigrean athlete Hagos Gebrhiwet. A victory marked by the record time in the 10 km of the route: in fact with 29'49 "the Tigrean exceeded the record set in the last edition by Sammy Kipnetich by 10 seconds. An edition kissed by the sun and the perfect temperature, which allowed the 400 participants - limited number due to the known limitations due to the Covid emergency - to run in ideal climatic conditions. During the last three kilometers, however, things changed: even before the final ascent of via del Monte the two Hagos and Teshager left Rachik in place to go and compete for the final victory. It was a shoulder to shoulder fight in the 500 meters of the steep ascent of via del Monte, at the end of which the Olympic champion Gebrhiwet managed to detach Teshager a few meters. Distance revealed at the fundamental end. Teshager tried to mend the gap in the final kilometer but without success. Gebrhiwet thus managed to cross the finish line with a record time of 29'49 '', lowering last year's time by 10 seconds.
