እየተመከራችሁ!

In Islam, there are certain etiquettes upon anyone who marries. Most Muslims today, even those who exert themselves in Islamic worship, have either neglected or become totally ignorant of these Islamic etiquettes.

Let's learn them, implement them and add more barakah to our unions.

1. PLACING YOUR HANDS ON YOUR WIFE'S HEAD & PRAYING FOR HER

At the time of consummating the marriage with your wife or before that, place your hand on the front part of her head, mention the name of Allah Most High, and pray for Allah's blessings.

Allaahumma innee as'aluka min khairiha wa khairi maa jabaltaha 'alaihi wa a'oodhubika min sharriha wa sharri maa jabaltaha 'alaihi

O Allaah, I ask You for the good in her and the good with which You have created her, and I seek refuge in You from the evil in her and the evil with which You have created her.

[Abu Dawud]

2. DUA AT THE TIME OF MAKING LOVE

When a Muslim man is about to enter his wife, he should always say first:

Bismillahi, Allahumma jannibnaa ash-shaitaan, wa jannib
ash-shaitaan maa razaqtanna

In the name of Allah, O Allah, keep us away from the devil, and keep the
devil away from that which You may grant us (ie. offspring).

About this, the Prophet ﷺ said: ""After that, if Allah decrees that they will have a child, the devil will never be able to harm that child"".

[Bukhari]

3. BATH TOGETHER

On the authority of 'Āʿishah رضي الله عنها who said: ""I used to bathe with the Prophet from a single container of water which was placed between us such that our hands collided inside it. He used to race me such that I would say: ""Leave some for me, leave some for me!'

She added: `We were in a state of Janaabah (i.e. the state of having slept together).

[Bukhari & Muslim]

4. DRINK FROM WHERE SHE DRANK
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to put his mouth on the place where I had drank from, and he would drink from what was leftover by me, while I was menstruating.”
- Aisha رضي الله عنها
(An-Nasa’i)

5. LEAN ON HER LAP
Romantic lovers like to lean on each other’s shoulder or lap. Doing this brings a state of calmness and contentment. Non-sexual touch is healing, calming, and important for connection. It is extremely powerful and it is a vital part of a healthy marriage. Make it a norm to hug, touch, cuddle your spouse often.

“The Prophet ﷺ used to lean on my lap and recite Quran while I was in menses.”
- Aisha رضي الله عنها
(Al-Bukhari)

6. CALL THEM WITH BEAUTIFUL NAMES

The Prophet ﷺ used to call Aisha by endearing names. ""O Humaira"" or ""Aish"".
Words have massive impact. Use them carefully with your spouse. Use words that uplift their self esteem, use adjectives that describes beauty in your spouse.

Avoid using harsh words or joking excessively.
